Hip-hop lyrics and formal poetry are analyzed side by side with a study of the classic sonnet and tanka along with the contemporary list poem and haiku blues. All will be expected to critique the work of their peers and participate in discussions ranging from the State of Hip-hop to utilizing its power to create social change.
